Santa Cruz a final candidate for World Surfing Reserve

Santa Cruz has won plenty of accolades for surfing, from Surfer magazine's pick of top U.S. surf town to its well recognized, if not legal, claim to moniker "Surf City."

One more distinction, which some say rides above all others, may soon endow the area's breaks. The coastline between Natural Bridges State Park and Pleasure Point is on the short list for being registered as a World Surfing Reserve.
