- Asynchronous REST or Slow REST:
- Instead of returning a custom object we could use the Content-Location header for the in-progress status URI of the requested operation. This URI could also use headers to provide information regarding the in-progress operation:
- Status-Code: "202 in progress" or "204 No Content" when completed or any error code
- ETag: for the operation progress status. Could be strong and still give a notion of progress

Some interesting SUN #cloud recent work: a white paper and an open source RESTful Cloud Computing APIs project
SUN just released a Cloud Computing Primer white paper available at http://www.sun.com/offers/details/cloud_computing_primer.html (need to have a free SUN online account).
And within the Project Kenai, open source developer portal, SUN is looking for some review and comment on its RESTful open source Cloud Computing APIs. Its a pretty neat and clean set of APIs, and it has a friendly Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 License (even if Attribution need to be kept).
